It’s Sunday which means it’s time for brunch! This weekend I visited Starlite BBQ, located in Scottsdale. Tucked away in a small corner of a plaza, this location is a bit easy to miss but the you’ll be upset you did. Immediately upon walking into this open air style restaurant you are greeted with the smells of slow cooked meats and a variety of BBQ sauces.
Starlite has many specialty drinks but I ended up choosing one known as Unicorn Tears. This specific drink is a mixture of tequila and prickly pear, a staple ingredient in Arizona. This drink was both sweet and refreshing with hints of cucumber as well as a cucumber garnish.
Choosing my meal turned out to be a bit more difficult as there are so many delicious sounding choices. But after asking my waitress for her recommendation, I went with the Pulled Pork Breakfast Chimichanga. I couldn’t believe the size of this monstrosity when it was placed down in front of me. Taking up about the same amount of space as a newborn, I was intimidated.
Although a bit tortilla-heavy, the flavors were delicious. Containing pork, eggs, and – surprisingly – french fries, this chimi is both yummy and incredibly filling.
I look forward to coming back to this location to try a few other items on the menu that caught my attention.
