My 5 Favorite Punisher Moments

The Punisher has always been a blood thirsty, get things done sort of vigilante and Netflix seems to be trying as best they can to keep in line with that. With Netflix’s Punisher series premiering tomorrow, I wanted to take some time to talk about some of my favorite Punisher moments from the comics.

  1. The Punisher Goes to Hawaii

In Punisher War Journal #19, Punisher and Microchip face off against drug dealers in Hawaii and so we get this wonderful moment of Frank Castle distancing himself – as much as he is able to – from his typical all black attire and exchanging it for this more festive Hawaiian shirt.

2. Punisher Scares the Joker

I’ve always been a huge fan of the clown, but his relationship with Batman sort of resembles that of Tom & Jerry. So in this Deadly Knights issue it was pretty refreshing to see the Joker actually show some fear for once. Of course, Batman swooped down and stopped Frank Castle before he was able to kill the Joker but I’m sure it was an encounter he won’t soon forget.

3. Punisher kills Al Capone

In Marvel Knights The Punisher #8, Frank Castle asks Mr Fantastic to send him back in time to stop organized crime for good – by killing Al Capone. I’ve always been fascinated by organized crime so this was an exciting moment in comics for me.

4. Frank Castle and Dr. Strange Merge

In Secret Wars: The Battle World #1, The Punisher and Dr. Strange merge to become Dr. Punisher. The ruthlessness of Frank Castle combined with the incredible powers of Dr Strange make for quite the unstoppable force. My favorite moment is definitely when he turned Hulk into dust!

5. Zombies!

Everyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE zombies. I have for as long as I can remember. That makes this particular moment in Frank Castle (Earth 2149) especially relevant to me when Frank gets turned to a zombie and then turns Scarlet Witch!

As was probably made apparent by this thread, I am a huge Punisher fan and can’t wait to see what Netflix does to further this character’s story. Is there a moment from the comics that you would like to see on the small screen? Let us know!
