The Passing of Joan Lee

I was completely heartbroken when I heard the news of Joan’s passing. Joan and Stan Lee honestly had a romance for the ages. A love that couldn’t be broken. I am so saddened for Stan Lee and his family and send my condolences.

In honor of Joan’s passing, I wanted to share her contributions to the comic world. One of my favorite accounts of the creation of Fantastic Four had the influence of Joan. It was said that Stan Lee became unhappy with his job and was considering leaving comics. Joan spoke to him and said, “Why not make at least one comic you are proud of?” and thus the Fantastic Four was born! Without this push, we wouldn’t have the Avengers, Hulk, Iron Man and the X-Men!

Joan also had a few cameos in some of Stan’s work. She played the computer voice in the 1994 Iron Man animated series, Miss Forbes in the Fantastic Four series (which was out the same year), Madame Web in the animated Spider Man series of 1996 and lastly, made a cameo in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Joan Lee will be missed. We wish nothing but love and positive thoughts for her family through this difficult time.
